    Chiropractic and Sports Injuries

San Francisco Chiropractor and Chronic Back Pain Doctor Comments:

U169927561 Most world class athletes have a chiropractor. Most world class dancers have a chiropractor...and so should you. Just because you don't play professional sports...or dance in the San Francisco Ballet...does not mean you don't put extreme physical demands on your body...day in, and day out.

Heck...sitting at a desk, working on the computer for 8-10 hours a day can wreak just as much havoc on the body as some professional sports.

And the truth of the matter is...many of you do both. You work in a stressful  office environment all day...then you go out and do your weekend warrior sports activities. I know...because I see you on Monday all messed up.

But...just like the pro athlete...you can increase your bodies resistance to injury and recover quicker if you do get injured...with regular chiropractic adjustments.

You don't have to wait until something happens. You don't wait until the pistons in your car freeze to change the oil...you do it at regular intervals...just like you should with your chiropractic adjustments. Just like the professional athletes do.

You only have one body to last you your entire life...take good care of it...with regular chiropractic care...you will be glad you did.

    Weight Loss News

    San Francisco Vegan Chiropractor Comments:

Pgi00311 I like to stay current on the news flow as it relates to diet and weight loss. I'll tell you this...in my opinion, things just keep getting worse. The TV Commercials these days are full of fast food advertisements and garbage masquerading as food.

The foods that most Americans eat day in and day out are making us fat and sick. Then...we spend all these billions on drugs so we can try to fix the problem by popping a pill.

It's really pretty simple...what determines whether someone becomes obese and sick has more to do with what's on the dinner table than anything else. And there's no pill that's ever going to be able to change that.

Anyway, check out Weight Loss News on Yahoo.com, and you'll see what I mean.

Cervical Spinal Decompression with the DRX9000c

San Francisco Chiropractor and Herniated Disc Doctor Comments:

Md_news_photos_0101It can be very difficult to treat herniated discs in the neck. And...if you've ever known anyone that had neck surgery...or had the procedure explained to you...you know it can be very scary.

But, what do you do if you have cervical disc herniations and conservative treatments like physical therapy, medications, or even chiropractic aren't helping?

Well...this is where the DRX9000c nonsurgical spinal decompression system comes in.

The DRX9000c was designed and built to treat bulging or herniated discs in the neck. That's what it does. And,  it's very safe and gentle.   Sure it wont help everyone that does it...but nothing will.

It's sure nice to know it probably wont hurt you though. Other than some soreness in the beginning as your body adapts to the treatment...there are usually no complications. The patients that respond the best just relax and let the DRX do it's thing.

It takes 5-6 weeks or 20 sessions. We introduce exercises along the way, and address lifestyle issues before, during, and after the treatment program. Heck, if you suffer with chronic neck pain from herniated or bulging discs...the DRX9000c just might be the answer.

If you would like to find out if you are a candidate for nonsurgical cervical decompression with the DRX9000c...simply call our San Francisco Spinal Decompression Center at 415-392-2225 and ask for a complimentary consultation.

    Even Web Workers Need Exercise

San Francisco Chiropractor and Chronic Back Pain Doctor Comments:

U124634721_2  Most of the Web Workers that we treat at our San Francisco Back & Wrist Pain Center love what they do. And we all know how time flies when you're having fun.

Well, maybe it's not that rosy...but one thing for sure...it's easy to get caught up in the rut of sitting in front of your computer for hours on end...without any breaks.

This does not bode well for your physical or mental well being. I know...these folks help keep me in business. Anyway, I came across an article entitled 20 Simple At Your Desk Exercises For Web Workers. Check it out. Nothing is better than hitting the gym. But something is better than nothing.

If you would like to find out if you are a candidate for care at our SF Financial District Chiropractic Center...simply call 415-392-2225 and ask for a complimentary consultation. Chances are...you will be glad you did.

What Is Degenerative Disc Disease? Can the DRX9000 Help?

San Francisco Chiropractor and Chronic Back Pain Doctor Comments:

Md_news_photos_011_2  Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) occurs when the spinal disc...the shock absorber like pad in between the vertebrae...wear abnormally. This usually happens when the spine is out of alignment (degenerative disc disease video).

The same thing can happen to the tread on your tire when the front end of your car is out of alignment. Both a tire and a spinal disc require proper positioning in order to function at optimum levels.

However...unlike the tire on your car...the spinal disc is living tissue and is capable of healing and repairing itself to a certain extent. In fact, this is why spinal harnessing technology such as the DRX9000 lumbar decompression system was created.

With your car...you can align the front end and rotate or replace the tires. You can't do that with your spinal disc...you only have one set to work with. However, in many cases you can re-align the spine and re-position the disc. Once a degenerating cervical or lumbar disc is repositioned, it is better able to function as intended, often times regaining lost height and water content. We can certainly slow down the degenerative process.

The DRX9000 lumbar decompression and the DRX9000c cervical decompression systems were designed and built to do this. This type of nonsurgical treatment for chronic back and neck pain has become very popular lately...even within the medical community.

Back and Neck Pain Treatment Costs Still On The Rise

San Francisco Chiropractor and Chronic Back Pain Doctor Comments:

Pgi00231 I found a very well written and informative article on the current state of back and neck pain treatments on the Fox Business website. The article is entitled Patients, Doctors Grapple With Back And Neck Pain Treatments. Here is an excerpt:

"We're spending more on back pain than people thought, and at the same time we're not seeing commensurate improvements in health status that we should expect to see from investments in health care over time," said Brook Martin, the lead author and a research scientist at the University of Washington's Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Seattle.

The author even mentions "harnessing technology" with spinal decompression, as well as some good advice for sleeping positions. It's a good read if you want to know the "State Of The Union" as far as back and neck pain treatment is concerned.

If you would like to find out if you are a candidate for nonsurgical spinal decompression at our San Francisco Decompression Center...simply call 415-392-2225 and ask for a complimentary consultation.

    Chiropractic: San Francisco Style

San Francisco Chiropractor and Herniated Disc Doctor Comments:

Bsr0711 We opened for business over 15 years ago. It sure didn't take long to figure out that SF Financial District office workers don't have a whole lot of extra time. Not only that...the extra time they do have seems to be around lunchtime. This is why we decided to eliminate the #1 obstacle in between a chiropractic patient...and the chiropractor...the wait...even during lunchtime.

We started advertising that chiropractic patients could come see us during their lunch break...and if they had to wait for more than 5 minutes for their chiropractic adjustment...the visit was free.

Well...needless to say, this message took off like wild fire and we had to take the vacant space in the back of my building 4 months after we opened. We were even written up in Herb Cains daily review. He thought it was humorous that you could have your "back" fixed at "front" without waiting.

So, here we are today. We are still at our same San Francisco Financial District location...and we still have a "no waiting policy". In fact, San Francisco city dwellers seem like they are even more limited on time these days...which is fine with us...you can be in and out in less than 15 minutes if that's what you want. Or...you can stay a little longer and be pampered...the choice is yours.

Is There Anything More Important Than Your Health?

San Francisco Chiropractor and Herniated Disc Doctor Comments:

Nif_018c1 I am always reminded of an article I read in one the business magazines many years back. The article profiled several of the richest people in the world. One of the questions they asked everyone was "If you could do one thing different in your life, what would it be?"

The #1 answer was: I would take better care of myself, because without good health, you really can't enjoy all the money and things you worked so hard to get.

This has stuck with me ever since, and I have always tried to make sure that I took good care of myself and maintained a healthy lifestyle. The thing I like the most about trying to stay fit and healthy is...I have complete control over it. I decide what goes in my mouth. I decide if I exercise or not. I decide how many drinks I have if I go out to dinner. And I decide how much stress I expose myself to.

There are many more health factors that are adjustable by us also. Things like the kind of pillow we use, the chair we use at work, the shoes we wear, the books we read, the people we associate with, how much TV we watch, and on and on. In fact, I would go as far as to say that health is a spontaneous occurrence when the conditions are right. The conditions we create for ourselves...with our lifestyle.

Is Back Pain Hereditary? What About Obesity?

San Francisco Chiropractor and Herniated Disc Doctor Comments:

Fel_0671 I am asked frequently by patients, if back pain, or even obesity is hereditary? My personal opinion, which comes from many years of clinical observation and research is "I don't think so."

I'm just being honest...because really, I don't know for sure. But, from what I have learned from being a chiropractor, father, son, grandson, and friend...is we tend to take on the habits and lifestyle...both good and bad...from our parents.

I know my 3 year old daughter eats what her parents do...the words that come out of her mouth she hears from her parents...and her overall disposition seems to be a combination of both parents.

So, do bad backs and diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cancer,  and heart disease get passed along to us in our genes. I don't know...maybe the tendency for the disease to manifest under certain conditions increases. But, if these same people, who have family histories of cancer, spine disease, and other health issues adopt a healthy lifestyle (in my opinion), I think the family history matters a lot less.

They have done studies of identical twins that were raised by different families and found what matters most is lifestyle...not genetics. I have had patients tell me that they could not lose weight because of a hereditary problem with their glands.

Then, when we sit down and look at what they eat day in and day out...we discover it's the glands all right...the salivary glands (taste buds). They have a poor diet that they think is OK, because it's the diet they were raised on...and for the most part, it's the diet everyone else eats. The typical American diet is loaded with sugar and fat...and almost 75% of our population is overweight, which means they weigh between 10-30 lbs. more than they should.
