I am far from your market, so thought I would ask you for your opinion as an uninvolved third party. I have a herniated disc at C6-C7, the result of a rear-end collision in 11/2007. I also have significant bone spurs on my vertebrae. These are pressing against nerve roots. I can understand how decompression might help with the disc, but it is not going to help with the spurs, right? Will I be wasting my time pursuing decompression therapy given the fact that bone spurs are present? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Dr Eben Davis

If the goal is to make your symptoms better than they are than decompression may help. Sure, it can't do anything for the bone spurs...but just because you have spurs does not mean decompression cannot help make your spine healthier than it is. I have treated dozens of patients with bone spurs on the DRX...mostly with favorable outcomes. But if the spurs are contacting the nerve roots, that could be a different story. It still MAY help....and is PROBABLY safe.

You have to accept whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best that you have to give.
