Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression Making You Sore?
San Francisco Spinal Decompression Doctor Comments:
If you are experiencing soreness from lumbar (DRX9000) or cervical spinal decompression (DRX9000c), should you be concerned? Probably Not
Here's the deal...Decompression Therapy is physical. Sure...some people fall asleep on the spinal decompression machine...and some patients barely feel anything...but others get sore. Heck...even some of the patients that fall asleep on the DRX get sore. The soreness some patients report is usually felt the next day...not pain during treatment.
Is it possible to get really sore from the DRX9000? Sure it's possible...it's just not likely.
This is why we want our herniated disc patients to ice frequently (at home) during the spinal decompression protocol. Ice helps to reduce the likelihood of soreness. Geez...we are pulling on an injured area of the spine...and there is usually lots of inflammation...so some soreness is expected...and should be considered normal.
However...if the pain is severe...which is unlikely...we may have to reduce the amount of pull...or even hold off for a day or two. Or, have your medical doctor prescribe something for you so you can handle the treatment.
I have only hand a couple of patients out of hundreds that got so sore that they could not finish out the DRX9000 or DRX9000c protocol.
Just make sure you communicate with your doctor. Lots of times there are modalities that your doctor can use to get your pain levels and muscle spasms under control if the spinal decompression stirs them up.
Chances are you will be fine...just hang in there...nothing worthwhile comes easy.
