Severe Low Back Pain Can Be Relentless
San Francisco Chiropractor and Chronic Back Pain Doctor Comments:
I am treating a patient now for severe low back pain and sciatica that just wont seem to respond to chiropractic care...although, it's only been 2 weeks.
I saw the same patient 2 years ago at my San Francisco Chiropractic Center...with the same symptoms. It took about 3-4 weeks to get the back pain under control, and we did a lumbar MRI to rule out disc herniation. The MRI came back positive so I suggested lumbar decompression with the DRX9000 for a more permanent fix.
The patient declined and decided to take his chances with chiropractic care and exercise. Well...he never stuck with the chiropractic...or the exercise...and the herniated disc symptoms came back with even more severity.
So now we are ordering another MRI to compare to the original one. The case is complicated by the fact that the patient works for a construction company in San Francisco, so his daily work load is very physical...this makes it tough.
Most likely we will decide that nonsurgical spinal decompression with the DRX9000 makes the most amount of sense as a long term solution. But the thing is...it will take 20 sessions over a six week period and the patient should not do anything physical for the first half of the treatment...so he will need to miss even more work. But what else can we do? The patient does not want surgery...and that would mean even more down time.
Yes...low back pain can be relentless...but there are some good choices for treatment...and the DRX9000 is right at the top of the list...along with chiropractic care. But you need to stick with the program.
