There are a lot of opinions on what the best form of treatment is for Diabetes. In fact...there are still experts that think that both Type I Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes are both incurable and can only be treated with drugs.
The best resource I know of for information on Diabetes, and how plant based nutrition and exercise can help and even cure Diabetes (Type 2) is Dr. John McDougall, MD. Here is an excerpt from the Diabetes page of his website. This page has useful links to many articles on the subject:
Elevated blood sugar is the hallmark of diabetes, but even more feared than the sugar should be the complications – heart attacks, kidney failure, loss of vision, etc. – that follow within a few years after diagnosis. Type-1 diabetes is due to destruction of the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas (in many cases this permanent damage is from an autoimmune reaction involving cow's milk). Type-1 diabetes is not curable (insulin therapy is required), but risk of complications can be greatly reduced with the McDougall Program. Type-2 diabetes is due to overnutrition from the rich Western diet – medication is not required and is usually inadvisable. The McDougall Program cures this form of type-2 diabetes by correcting the malnutrition with a plant-food based diet and exercise – and associated weight loss.
My Take: Before you consider drug therapy for your Diabetes, I highly recommend you spend some time educating yourself about your options.

Food is medicine its not complicated to heal the body with nutrition. We are deficient as we grow year by year and stress robs the body of the essential nutrients. Part of my care for the body is to eat more veggies and less sugar. Fats are needed to protect the body and produce needed hormones. I suggest to start healing the body with an approach to alkaline food, not acid. Just google alkaline food and acid food for a list and start from there.

"Let food be thy medicine", Hippocrates.
He was the father of modern medicine yet his followers practice the complete opposite.
Diabetes, like most chronic inflammatory diseases can be prevented and reduced by a properly designed whole-food, plant based diet. Check out the China Study and the movie Forks Over Knives.
The latter follows a group of patients dying from chronic diseases that takes a list of meds each day. All but 2 are still alive and off ALL meds. All lab tests returned to normal.
Thanks Dr. Davis for posting this as it will probably touch many lives.
